Round Fire Pit Installation Steps
View Individual Steps Below:
Step 1
This image shows an outdoorfire pit construction being framed out of concrete block built from the ground up, as shown the gas pipe has been run into the center of the fire pit.
Step 2
Now that the fire pit in this photo has been framed out of concrete blocks it is time to finish with a smooth concrete surface.
Step 3
The fire pit has now taken shape and is ready to install the fire ring. Since the gas pipe was run into the center of the fire pit the fire ring installation will be as simple as connecting a garden hose, the fire ring inlet just simply screws onto your gas pipe threads to attach (no tools nessacary) Before installing the glass crystals you should test the fire ring by lighting it to make sure the flame is centered, no leaks, etc. Once you have done this you may add pea gravel filler to fill ALL depth area beneath the fire ring.
Step 4
This image shows the homeowner filling the depth area beneath the ring with "pea gravel " all the way up to the base of the fire ring. The Pea gravel filler is the safest filler option for use under the fire ring and fire pit glass. Some companies suggest using lava rock under the glass - this is not good advice! Lava Rocks are extremely porous, this means that if gas collects beneath the surface the lava rock can create small air pockets where gas could collect, this could cause the flame to combust or flare up unexpectedly all at once. Lava Rocks will also "pop" or "crack" when heated up for an extended time. Pea Gravel does neither as it is not porous (it is also a much less expensive filler)
Step 5
Pour your fire pit glass on top of your fire pit ring and level off top surface until fire ring is no longer visible. (If you choose to mound up the center, pour in additional volume of fire pit glass until desired shape is achieved).
Step 6
This image shows the finished product - Now the fire pit glass has been added over the burner - your installation is complete. This photo shows a 2 inch fill level which is the minimum we suggest - A 2 inch fill level will give you just enough product to cover the fire ring and have a flat finished look/effect. Fire Pit Glass color shown: Desert Rose Reflective" (the final photo shows the initial gathering around the newly constructed glass fire pit)
